Welcome to Paignton Sailing Club, your premier gateway to the thrilling world of learning to sail and continued coaching, dinghy sailing and racing, and sailing event management in Torbay.
Whether you're an experienced sailor seeking year-round club racing or a family eager to explore the joys of dinghy sailing, our friendly club is your ideal destination. We also extend a warm welcome to those interested in power-boating or volunteering.
Situated conveniently at our RYA Accredited Training Centre on Paignton Harbour, our lively club hosts regular sailing sessions focused on pure enjoyment. New members benefit from the guidance of experienced sailors and dedicated club instructors.
Join us for club racing every Wednesday evening (BST) and Sunday morning throughout the year, with special events and regattas on selected summer weekends. From May to September, our BIG Friday Fun Evening welcomes junior members to learn and race under RYA-qualified dinghy instructors. Adult members can enjoy social sails during this time.
Our reputation for excellent racing includes expansive courses and separate starts for both novice and experienced groups. As a British Youth Sailing Recognised Club, we're proud to offer expert race coaching to young sailors, fostering their racing talent. Don't let the idea of racing deter you; it's a perfect opportunity to enhance your skills with safety cover provided by experienced sailors. Boat owners can inquire about limited private compound space, with additional options from the council.
For those not into sailing, numerous opportunities exist to contribute through volunteering roles such as safety boats, race management, junior club support, or galley assistance. Explore powerboat and race officer courses, or enjoy onshore activities and our clubhouse's licensed bar. Join us in creating a vibrant and inclusive community beyond the sails. Our membership options are as follows, and are shown at the 2024-25 rates.
Please note these prices increased by 5% from last year on the 1st April 2024:
Adult Single | £155.00 | Over the age of eighteen years who wish to use the club sailing facilities either as a boat owner, helm or crew. Has a single vote and full use of all club facilities. |
Junior | £56.00 | A person under the age of eighteen years, but who is not an existing family member, and who wishes to use the club sailing facilities as either boat owner, helm or crew. N.B Single Membership or Associate Membership must also be included to act as parent/guardian. Has a single vote and full use of the club facilities. |
Associate/Country Member (18+) | £44.00 | Over the age of eighteen years and who has use of bar/social facilities and the use of sailing facilities when helping with club activities. Country members - over the age of eighteen, have no residence or place of business within 25 miles of PSC and wish to use the club sailing facilities and vote at meetings of the club. Has full use of club facilities. Has a single vote. |
Student | £56.00 | Over the age of eighteen years and under the age of twenty-six years and in full-time education at College or University. Use of the club sailing facilities as either boat owner, helm or crew. Has a single vote and full use of the club facilities. |
Family (2 Adult Singles/4 children) | £220.00 | For 2 adults wishing to use the club sailing facilities either as a boat owner, helm or crew, together with up to 4 children under the age of eighteen years, or in full-time education, who wish to use the club sailing facilities. The family shall have the right to three votes at any meeting of the club. |
